Counting breaths

When doing breathing or asana practice it is important to count repetitions to make sure that you don’t just drift along. It helps to regulate your practice and improves concentration.

The traditional way of counting is to count the joints of your fingers with your thumb in a spiral pattern. You can use either hand. Choose the one that feels the most balanced for what you are doing and make sure that you use both hands so you don’t create an asymmetrical habit.
